Noise control

Section 3-8.1b.2 of the Revised General Ordinances of the City of Summit prohibits the construction, demolition, repair, paving or alteration of buildings or streets or excavation when conducted between the hours of 7:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. (9:00 a.m. on Sundays) except that there shall be no construction by contractors on Sunday and except for emergency work to provide or repair utility services.


Noise complaints are enforced by, and in the jurisdiction of, the Summit Police Department. Contact must be made directly to the Police at 908-273-0051 during the incident in order for them to investigate the complaint and enforce accordingly during the situation.
