[ARCHIVED] NJ American Water begins water main work on 4/25

Newsflash Posting Size(1).jpg

Project work will focus on cleaning and lining nearly 4,900 feet of cast iron water main, and rehabilitation of fire hydrants, and is part of NJ American Water's ongoing system maintenance. The pipeline project is intended to improve water quality and increase water flow for household use and firefighting. It will take approximately 10 weeks to complete, weather permitting.

On Monday, crews will begin work on Glenside Avenue (CR-527) at Van Dyke Place and continue down Glenside Avenue to Watchung Reservation. Once that section of the restoration work is complete, crews will begin service along Morris Avenue to Chapel Street.

During construction, roads will be subject to lane closures by police, and access to businesses, driveways and sidewalks may be limited. Pathways for pedestrians will be established and emergency vehicles will have priority access to roads. Water service may be temporarily disrupted in 10 to 15 minute increments; customers will be notified by NJ American Water if and when service interruptions will occur.

Final street restorations will be coordinated with Union County.

Residents with any questions or concerns should contact the Engineering Division at 908-273-6404. Call NJ American Water at 800-272-1325 for emergencies 24/7.
