The Police Department will launch Summit PD CARES on April 10 at 10AM at City Hall .
The City of Summit Police Department is hosting a press conference on Monday, April 10 at City Hall, 512 Springfield Avenue, to launch its newly created Summit PD CARES community outreach program. The press conference will begin at 10am and will be held in the courtyard of City Hall, weather permitting. In the event of inclement weather, the conference will be moved indoors to Council Chambers.
The Summit PD CARES program has been designed to provide Community Policing Awareness, Response, and Engagement with members of the Summit community with special needs; particularly Autism, Alzheimer’s, and Dementia. The Department had worked closely with the community to develop a multi-dimensional program which will help facilitate strong communication with Summit’s special needs residents. Members of the press and the public are encouraged to attend the press conference to learn about the unique design of this comprehensive program and the various CARES services available to the public. The launch of Summit PD CARES also coincides with the beginning of Autism Awareness Month to demonstrate the Summit Police Department’s long-standing commitment to promoting Autism awareness and proactive outreach to Autistic members of the community and their families.
