The City of Summit Department of Community Programs (DCP) is announcing the formation of a Lunch Bunch program as part of the Summit Seniors Club monthly activities.

Each month, Lunch Bunch participants will travel to a nearby restaurant for an afternoon meal. Though each person is responsible for the cost of their own food and beverages, transportation will be provided by the DCP in the new Miles MacMahon senior van at no cost to members.

“The Lunch Bunch activity is an excellent addition to our existing program options for seniors,” explains Program Coordinator Gretchen Masterfano. “It is a fun way for members of the seniors club to try new restaurants and spend the afternoon enjoying the company of others. We are pleased to be able to offer it for our seniors.”

The Lunch Bunch program is available for members of the Summit Seniors Club. Summit residents ages 55 and older are eligible to register with the club for $10 per year, while non-residents ages 55 and older can register for a fee of $50 per year. Register online with Community Pass.

The new Miles MacMahon 15-passenger van was provided through a grant from the Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders Seniors in Motion initiative. The van is named in memory of Summit resident and longtime advocate for seniors programs in Summit, Miles MacMahon.
