Agenda highlights for the Tuesday, April 4, Common Council Meeting:

At the Common Council meeting on Tuesday, April 4, Council President Greg Vartan will provide an update on progress made by the governing body during the first quarter of 2023 toward specific initiatives outlined at the beginning of the year.

There will be a presentation from Fire Chief Eric Evers on the new fire headquarters building project. Mayor Nora Radest will be absent from the meeting; Council President Pro Tem Susan Hairston will present the Mayoral Proclamations recognizing Child Abuse Prevention Month as well as Telecommunicators Week.

Council will have a hearing and hold a vote on two ordinances. The first is a housekeeping ordinance that authorizes a CAP bank for municipal budget appropriations and the second adds Juneteenth as an official City of Summit parking holiday. An ordinance will be introduced that repeals and replaces Chapter 27 of the city's local code that deals with floodplain management regulations. The hearing on that ordinance will be held at the next council meeting on Tuesday, April 18.

Council will consider several resolutions to appoint a new police officer, establish a sidewalk cafe for a downtown restaurant, authorize fees for the city's sanitary sewer system, authorize the submission of an annual recycling report, award a bid for the Prospect Street repaving and sidewalk project, and provide accrued time payouts for employees that have retired.

The next Common Council meeting on April 18 will feature a presentation and introduction of the 2023 Municipal Budget.
