[ARCHIVED] Sign Up for City Notifications

Sign up to receive notifications from the City of Summit and stay informed. There are three notification systems the city uses to share information: Smart911, Nixle, and the city website.

Smart911

Smart911 provides emergency information by text, email, and phone calls about city-wide, high-priority events. The City of Summit strongly encourages all residents and business owners to create a Smart911 profile. Having a profile not only ensures that you will receive emergency alerts but also helps emergency services to respond more effectively by providing them with crucial medical and location information.

This video provides instructions on how to create a Smart911 profile. Visit cityofsummit.org/smart911 to sign up.

Nixle

Alerts and advisories from the Summit Police Department via email and/or text. ALERT messages are issued in time-sensitive situations that may pose an immediate threat to the general public; for example, police/fire emergencies, Hazmat situations, emergency weather alerts, etc. ADVISORY messages are intended for both time-sensitive and non-time-sensitive information important to the community, but do not pose an immediate threat to the public; for example, general public safety, health, weather, traffic, and similar kinds of information.

Text 07901 to 888777 or visit www.nixle.com to sign up.

Please note: When an ADVISORY message is issued, people who have registered an email address and a cell phone number with Nixle will receive ONLY an email alert. ADVISORY messages default to the email address. To receive a text message for ADVISORY messages, the email address needs to be removed from the Nixle account. Click here to view Nixle guidelines.

Website notifications

Sign up to receive email and/or text notifications from a variety of categories, including community events and news, trash and recycling alerts, parking, construction, police and fire department alerts and news, and more. Go to cityofsummit.org/notifications to subscribe now.
