Rutgers offers free courses to retired New Jersey residents, aged 62 or older, in many different subject areas. Campuses at Newark, New Brunswick and Camden all participate in this program.

GRACE stands for Giving and Receiving Assistance for our Community’s Essentials. Every week, 70-100 volunteers help unpack, store, bag, and distribute up to 16,000 pounds of food and supplies to share with 2,200-3,300 community members.
Food and supplies are distributed on Thursdays from 11AM to 1PM and from 4PM to 7PM at the Summit Community Center (100 Morris Avenue) to Summit residents and people who work, worship and receive care in Summit. During holiday weeks, distributions hours may vary; contact GRACE to confirm distribution hours during holiday weeks.
Lantern Hill is a residential community located in New Providence, NJ. The models offered caters to more able adults, and the community provides exciting activities, engaging amenities, and convenient services. Take a virtual tour on the website to view the available services.
Meals On Wheels is a need-based program provided by Sage Eldercare that operates Monday through Friday and is available to food insecure and less abled citizens over 60 years of age. Deliveries can be scheduled over the phone, and meals are arranged in accordance with dietary needs and restrictions.
The NJ Transit Police Department enjoys a strong working relationship with the Summit Police Department to ensure the safety of the Train Station, Bus Terminals, and other public transportation entities in the City.
Summit Helping Its People (SHIP) provides soup kitchen style aid to persons in need. Monday-Friday from 6 to 7:30 am, breakfast and bag lunch programs are open at Calvary Episcopal Church. On Saturday and Sunday dinner is served between 11 am and 12 pm at the Oakes Center.
