The City of Summit is sharing an opportunity for citizens to help the dedicated men and women of the US Coast Guard and their families who are not receiving paychecks during the partial government shut down.
Now through January 31, the Summit Fire Department and Summit Firefighters Local FMBA 54 will be accepting gift cards of $20 or less. Coast Guard support representatives recommend gift cards from gas stations, Walmart, Stop & Shop and Shop Rite grocery stores, and pharmacies such as CVS and Walgreens. Donations can be dropped off at the Summit Fire Department on 396 Broad Street at any time.
