Summit Police Department Activity blotter December 1 to 14, 2025 

12/03/2025—At approximately 1240 hours, a 70-year-old-female from Summit was arrested and charged with simple assault. The defendant was processed and released with a pending court date. 

12/03/2025—At approximately 1530 hours, a report was taken for a theft that occurred at a Middle Avenue residence. The victim stated that at approximately 1230 hours a package was delivered to his house and left near his front door. A short time later when he went to retrieve the package, he found the box was ripped open and three (3) containers of creatine were missing. The total value of the product taken was $60.00.

12/04/2025—At approximately 1405 hours, a 56-year-old male from Summit was arrested for defiant trespassing as well as multiple outstanding warrants totaling $10,750.00. The defendant was processed and turned over to Raritan Borough Police Department. 

12/04/2025—At approximately 1642 hours, patrol officers conducted a motor vehicle stop which resulted in the arrest of a 37-year-old male from Linden for an outstanding ATS warrant also out of Linden. The defendant was processed and released with a pending court date.

12/08/2025—At approximately 0055 hours while on routine patrol, officers observed a vehicle parked with all of the lights off on the right shoulder of Rt. 24 West. On-scene investigation revealed the driver, a 26-year-old male from Jamesburg Borough, was under the influence and in possession of several open containers of alcohol in plain view inside the vehicle. As a result, he was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated as well possession of open containers in a motor vehicle. The defendant was processed and released with a pending court date.

12/08/2025—At approximately 0815 hours, patrol officers responded to a Larned Road residence for a report of an attempted burglary to two (2) motor vehicles that occurred during the overnight hours at approximately 0340 hours. Surveillance footage displayed two (2) suspects, both wearing dark-colored sweatsuits and masks, walk up the driveway and attempt to enter two (2) SUV’s, a 2024 Audi Q7 and a 2019 BMW X5. The suspects were unable to gain entry into the vehicles and subsequently fled the scene. There was no attempted entry to the residence. 

12/09/2025—At approximately 1802 hours, a report was taken for a burglary to a motor vehicle that occurred at a Clark Street residence during the early morning hours. Prior to the call, a neighbor advised the caller/victim that she observed an unknown individual open the passenger door of his 2014 Honda Accord at approximately 0300 hours. The witness stated it was at that time security lights activated from another neighbor’s house, which caused the suspect to flee the area. Nothing was reported stolen at the time of the report and no surveillance video footage captured the incident. The victim also reported the vehicle was unlocked.

12/11/2025—At approximately 2022 hours, patrol officers responded to a Colonial Road residence for a report of a burglary to a 2022 BMW 430i. The victim stated that sometime during the overnight hours, an unknown individual entered his unsecured vehicle and stole his backpack, containing a Lenovo ThinkPad laptop. The value of the stolen items was unknown at the time of the report, and no surveillance video footage captured the incident.

12/13/2025—At approximately 1414 hours, patrol officers responded to the Summit Free Public Library for a report of trespassing in progress. Upon arrival, they observed a 48-year-old male from Newark, who was previously banned from the library, drinking a bottle of Hennessy VSOP. As a result, the male was arrested for trespassing and an active warrant out of Union Township. The defendant was charged, processed, and turned over to Union Police.

All parties are presumed innocent until proven guilty in the court of law.
