On 10/5/25 at approximately 0430 hours patrol officers responded to Kent Place Blvd. between Morris Ave. and High St. for a report of a stolen vehicle that just occurred from a residence. Prior to arrival, the caller informed dispatch she heard the engine of her 2016 white Jaguar F-Type start while parked in the driveway. The victim then reportedly ran downstairs, looked out her window, and saw her vehicle, as well as a blue car, traveling East on Kent Place Blvd. toward Morris Ave. It was at that point she dialed 911.
On-scene investigation revealed the victim’s spare key was left unsecure inside the vehicle for servicing prior to the theft. Furthermore, during a canvass of the area patrol officers located a 2016 blue Hyundai Elantra parked, unoccupied, in the middle of Morris Ave. near Bedford Rd. Although not reported stolen at the time, an investigation revealed the vehicle’s ignition was damaged. The vehicle was subsequently impounded for processing.
Please remember to remove key fobs, lock all doors, and relocate valuables from plain sight. Anyone with information on this matter is encouraged to contact the Summit Police Department’s Detective Bureau at (908) 273-0051. Thank you. Stay safe.
