The City of Summit will be relocating its temporary pop-up dog park from Memorial Field to the Village Green, effective Monday, August 11. This transition is part of a planned initiative outlined in a Common Council resolution to test potential locations for a future permanent dog park, which is scheduled to be included in the 2026 municipal budget.

The pop-up dog park at Memorial Field has been active throughout the summer and has received hundreds of responses and positive community feedback. As the next phase of this community engagement effort, the Village Green will host the temporary dog park for several weeks, allowing more residents and pet owners to experience the setup and share their thoughts on its location and design.

“We are excited to have received so many responses already to our survey,” said Mayor Elizabeth Fagan. “By rotating the temporary park to different locations, we can continue to gather feedback and better understand what works best for the community.”

Residents are encouraged to continue providing input through the city's online survey at cityofsummit.org/dogparksurvey. Feedback collected will be reviewed by the Common Council to help determine the most suitable location and features for a future permanent dog park.

While the pop-up parks are temporary, Summit residents can also continue to enjoy the existing permanent dog park at the municipal Transfer Station.
