Activity blotter June 16 to 29, 2025

06/16/2025—A 30-year-old male from Newark was arrested and charged with three (3) counts of motor vehicle theft, one (1) count of receiving stolen property, and one (1) count of conspiracy to commit motor vehicle theft. The defendant was served with a complaint summons and released with a pending superior court date. Click here to read the press release.

06/20/2025—At 1835 hours a report was taken for a theft that occurred at a Glenwood Place residence. The victim stated that a delivered Amazon package was stolen from her doorstep sometime during the day. Taken was a Koosa Bug Zapper, valued at $50.00.

06/21/2025—At approximately 0040 hours, officers from the Patrol Bureau conducted a motor vehicle stop on Morris Avenue at Summit Avenue for violation 39:4-88, Failure to Maintain Lane, and 39:4-81, Failure to Observe Traffic Control Device. Following an on-scene investigation, the 29-year-old male driver from Keyport was subsequently arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated. The defendant was processed and released with a pending municipal court date. 

06/24/2025—A 48-year-old male from Newark was arrested and charged with shoplifting from a Deforest Avenue business. Two (2) bottles of TheraFlu and four (4) bottles of Tylenol were taken, valued at a total of $71.49. The defendant was processed and transported to Union County Jail.

06/27/2025—At approximately 2350 hours, officers from the Patrol Bureau conducted a motor vehicle stop on Franklin Place for violation 39:3-4, Operating an Unregistered Motor Vehicle. Following an on-scene investigation, the 25-year-old male driver from Elizabeth was arrested for outstanding warrants out of Union Township, Millburn Township, and the City of Newark. The defendant was processed and released to the Union Police Department. 

06/28/2025—At approximately 0953 hours, officers from the Patrol Bureau received an ALPR alert regarding a stolen vehicle. The vehicle was subsequently located, and a felony stop was conducted on Rt. 78 East. Following an on-scene investigation, the 42-year-old male driver from Staten Island was arrested on multiple outstanding warrants out of Chesterfield Township and was also charged with receiving stolen property. The defendant was processed and released with several pending municipal court dates.

06/29/2025—At approximately 2228 hours, officers responded to the area of Orchard Street and Broad Street for a report of a female lying on the ground. Upon arrival, officers located a 61-year-old female from New Providence lying next to her car. Following an on-scene investigation, it was determined that the driver was under the influence and previously involved in a hit-and-run motor vehicle accident. As a result, the driver was arrested and charged with driving under the influence. She was subsequently processed and released with a pending municipal court date.
