Activity blotter May 5 to 18, 2025

05/05/2025—At approximately 1600 hours, a 30-year-old female from Summit turned herself in for an outstanding ATS warrant out of Springfield Township for $750.00. The defendant was processed and released with a pending municipal court date.

05/06/2025—At approximately 1757 hours, a 34-year-old male from Irvington was arrested and charged with aggravated assault following an altercation with another adult male. During processing, the defendant was found to have an active arrest warrant issued by a federal judge on behalf of the Department of Homeland Security. The defendant was subsequently transferred into their custody with a pending court date for the aforementioned charges.

05/06/2025 – At approximately 2301 hours, a 20-year-old male from Irvington was arrested for two outstanding ACS warrants (Princeton and Maplewood). The suspect was processed and later released pending his court dates.

05/08/2025—At approximately 1020 hours, dispatch advised units of a theft that just occurred at a Deforest Avenue business called in by an employee. The caller advised dispatch that the female suspect left the business in a wheelchair with unpurchased merchandise. The suspect was later apprehended and confessed to taking multiple items without purchasing them. The stolen items were returned to the business and a waiver of prosecution was signed. The suspect was then sent on her way.

05/13/2025—A-25-year-old from East Orange was arrested on twelve charges, including 1st Degree Home Invasion Burglary, from an incident that occurred on February 21, 2025 (see press release below). The defendant was processed at Essex County Jail, where he was remanded pending a detention hearing. Press Release

05/13/2025 – At approximately 1545 hours, the Union County Sheriff’s Department transferred custody of a suspect arrested in Florida and extradited for burglary, simple assault, and harassment. The charges were from an incident that occurred in this jurisdiction on March 1, 2025. The defendant was processed and transported to Union County Jail pending his court appearance.

05/14/2025—At approximately 0730 hours, a 47-year-old male from Linden was arrested and charged with criminal attempt and 2nd degree robbery. The charges stemmed from an incident that occurred the previous day at an Ashwood Avenue business. The defendant was processed and transported to Union County Jail.

05/17/2025—At approximately 0048 hours, dispatch advised units of a burglary to a motor vehicle located at a Springfield Avenue residence. The victim stated just prior to contacting police, their outdoor camera activated causing an audible alarm to sound. The video footage observed an unknown male actor enter the unlocked driver’s side door, and left upon the alarm activating. At the time of the report nothing was noted damaged or stolen.

05/17/2025—At approximately 0838 hours, a report was taken for a theft that occurred at a Milton Avenue residence. The victim stated that sometime during the overnight hours an unknown actor entered their unlocked vehicle and stole their vehicle registration and insurance cards. At the time of the report nothing was noted damaged.
