The City of Summit Fire Department is hosting a grand opening ceremony and event for the new firehouse, located at 281 Broad Street, on Sunday, November 24, from 12PM to 5PM. Members of the public are invited to attend.
The event will begin with a closing ceremony at the current headquarters at 396 Broad Street. City staff and local officials will join the fire department in a parade down Broad Street to the new firehouse. Members of the public are invited to participate in the parade.
Following the parade, a ceremony and flag raising will be held at the new firehouse, and members of the fire department and local officials will provide remarks. Children will be invited to help Summit firefighters perform a traditional push-in with the department’s antique fire engine, to help celebrate and dedicate the new building.
After the ceremony, attendees will be invited to tour the new building, participate in fire safety and educational activities, enjoy light refreshments, and more.
