The City of Summit Fire Department will host a grand opening ceremony and event for the new firehouse, located at 281 Broad Street, on Sunday, November 24, from 12PM to 5PM. Members of the public are invited to attend.
The event will begin with a closing ceremony at the current headquarters at 396 Broad Street. City staff and local officials will join the fire department in a parade down Broad Street to the new firehouse. Members of the public are invited to participate in the parade.
Following the parade, a ceremony and flag raising will be held at the new firehouse, and members of the fire department and local officials will provide remarks. Summit firefighters will also perform a traditional push-in with the department’s antique fire engine, to help celebrate and dedicate the new building.
After the ceremony, attendees will be invited to tour the new building, participate in fire safety and educational activities, enjoy light refreshments, and more.
“We are thrilled that the new building is finally complete, and we are looking forward to sharing it with the public at the grand opening,” says Fire Chief Eric Evers. “We invite all community members to attend the event and come learn about the innovative new features of the firehouse, many of which will significantly support the health and safety of our firefighters as they continue to provide invaluable service to the community. We hope you will join us on November 24.”
