On Wednesday, September 25, at approximately 9:43AM, Summit police and fire departments responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash at a townhouse building on Norwood Avenue.
Upon arrival, crews discovered that a resident’s vehicle had crashed through an internal wall in the garage, causing mild structural damage. The gas and water lines in the unit were also damaged as a result of the crash.
No injuries were reported, but one of the two individuals in the car was transported to Overlook Medical Center by Summit Volunteer First Aid Squad for evaluation.
The other five units in the building were evacuated until the gas line was shut off. All residents from these additional units have since been able to return to the building after the units were evaluated and deemed safe by a city construction official. The unit where the crash occurred remains unsafe for reentry at this time due to the reported structural damage.
Summit police and fire departments responded to the scene along with the Summit Volunteer First Aid Squad.
