On Monday, July 29, at approximately 6:27PM, Summit Fire Department responded to an activated alarm at a house on High Street.
On arrival, crews found smoke and the fire at the rear of the house and extinguished it. The fire was declared under control at approximately 7:10PM. The residents were not home at the time of the fire and there were no reported injuries to first responders.
Mutual aid was provided on scene by Cranford, Millburn, Springfield, and Union fire departments. Summit Police Department and Summit Volunteer First Aid Squad also responded to the scene. Station coverage was provided by New Providence, Mountainside, and Westfield fire departments.
