On Saturday, January 13, 2024, at approximately 2:10AM patrol officers encountered a stolen 2017 silver Hyundai Elantra in the area of Waldron and Springfield avenues. While attempting to flee from police, the suspect lost control of the vehicle that crashed on Waldron Avenue. Two males exited the vehicle fled into the neighborhood.

Responding officers established a perimeter and subsequently located two 16-year-old males, both residents of Newark, hiding in nearby yards. The subjects were immediately placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters for processing.
