SUMMIT, NJ, November 3, 2023 – At approximately 5:14 PM on Thursday, November 2, 2023, Summit Police Department responded to a report of a theft from a motor vehicle at a Blackburn Place residence. The victim stated that a purse and two mobile phones were removed from an unlocked Toyota Highlander that was parked in the driveway.

Summit Police detectives were able to trace one of the stolen phones to a location on Route 22 in Union Township. With the assistance of the Union Police Department, three male suspects were arrested a few hours later. Washir Singletary, age 38, and Rahmir Singletary, age 21, both from Newark and Jaylin Harper, age 22, from East Orange were charged with third degree receiving stolen property.

Washir Singletary was remanded to Union County Jail and is being held pending a bail hearing. Rahmir Singletary and Jaylin Harper were released pending a November 30 first appearance hearing date.?

As the investigation is ongoing, no further details will be released at this time.
