Weekly blotter October 10 to October 22
10/10/2023—Marc Bedolla-Flores, 22, of Summit was arrested and charged with burglary and theft by unlawful taking. Mr. Bedolla-Flores was processed and transported to Union County Jail with a pending court date.
10/10/2023—At 1222 hours a report was taken for a burglary that occurred at a Beekman Road residence. The victim stated that when they returned from an extended weekend trip, they found that the kitchen door had been shattered. During an initial inspection of the residence, nothing appeared to be out of place, damaged (aside from the kitchen door), or rummaged through. The homeowners were also able to account for all motor vehicle key fobs and immediate valuables.
10/11/2023—At 1705 hours a report was taken for a burglary to an unsecured motor vehicle parked on Park Avenue. The victim stated that a work vehicle was entered and rummaged through between 1130 hours and 1200 hours on 10/10/23. The only item noted missing was a daily job logbook.
10/12/2023—Liza Sloan-Labarbera, 40, of Maplewood was arrested and charged with contempt of court. Ms. Sloan-Labarbera was transported to Union County Jail with a pending court date.
10/15/2023—At 1145 hours a report was taken for a burglary into multiple motor vehicles located at a Lenox Road residence. Video surveillance footage showed an unknown individual running away from the residence into a dark colored Mercedes SUV that fled the area at 1140 hours. The victim stated two of their vehicles were parked in the driveway and left unlocked. At the time of the report nothing was noted as taken.
10/18/2023—At 0502 hours a report was taken for an attempted burglary to a residence located on Wade Drive. The victim stated that at 0329 hours video surveillance footage showed three unknown individuals walk up the driveway, enter the rear gate, and attempt to open the glass sliding door without success. Shortly after, at approximately 0332 hours, the suspects departed from the rear yard and entered an unknown dark colored sedan and proceeded to travel north on Wade Drive toward Woodland Avenue. At the time of the report nothing was noted damaged or taken.
10/18/2023—At 1111 hours a report was taken for an attempted motor vehicle theft located at a Broad Street business. The victim stated the incident occurred during the overnight hours. Video surveillance footage showed an unknown individual breaking the rear passenger side window to a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee and attempting to start the vehicle. The engine did not start and the suspect was unsuccessful in stealing the vehicle. The suspect then fled the area.
10/20/2023—At 1419 hours a report was taken for a theft that occurred at a West End Avenue residence. The victim stated a package that was delivered to their front porch was taken sometime between 10/17/2023 and 10/20/2023. Taken was a KitchenAid Inline Blower valued at $373.
10/21/2023—At 1442 hours a report was taken for an attempted motor vehicle theft at a Norwood Avenue residence. The victim stated the incident occurred at 1420 hours when they observed an unknown individual approach and look inside their 2021 gray BMX X6; at that point the victim yelled at the suspect to scare him off. The suspect fled the area in a black Honda Civic with tinted windows. At the time of the report nothing was noted as damaged or taken.
