Weekly blotter September 25 to October 9

9/25/2023—At 1012 hours a report was taken for a theft at a New England Avenue residence. The victim reported they ordered an XtremePower electric jack hammer from Amazon that was delivered by FedEx on 9/20/2023 at approximately 1625 hours. The victim was notified by FedEx that the package was left on the porch but when they returned to their residence at 1830 hours the package was missing. Taken was an XtremePower electric jack hammer valued at $146.

9/26/2023—At 1045 hours a report was taken for a stolen bicycle from a Park Avenue residence. The victim stated sometime during overnight hours an unsecured bike was taken from the driveway. Taken was a blue Flexor Mountain Bicycle valued at $198.

9/27/2023—At 2313 hours police responded to a Stockton Road residence for an attempted motor vehicle theft. The victim stated that when they heard a car engine revving in the driveway, they looked out a window and saw two unknown individuals inside their parked vehicle. When they yelled, the suspects vacated the vehicle, ran down the driveway into a waiting red minivan and fled the area. The 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Wagon was unlocked with the key fob inside the vehicle. At the time of the report nothing was noted as taken.

9/28/2023—At 0811 hours a report was taken for an attempted motor vehicle theft that occurred at an Ashwood Court residence. The victim stated that sometime during overnight hours their 2017 Kia Sorrento was entered, rummaged through and the steering column was damaged in an attempt to steal the vehicle. At the time of the report noting was noted taken.

9/28/2023—At 1629 hours a report was taken for a motor vehicle theft that occurred at a parking garage located on Broad Street. The victim stated they parked their vehicle at 0923 hours. When they returned at 1615 hours on 9/28/2023, their car was missing. The 2023 Ford Bronco was left unlocked with the key fob inside. The vehicle was eventually recovered by Newark Police.

10/02/2023—Carlos Rodriguez-Bravo, 43, of Kenilworth was charged and arrested with simple assault. Mr. Rodriguez-Bravo was processed and transported to Union County Jail.

10/03/2023—At 0317 hours police responded to a Twombly Drive residence for an attempted burglary. The victim stated that they were woken by noises in the backyard of the residence. Surveillance footage showed four males in dark clothing positioning an outdoor table under a window in the backyard. Once exterior lights were activated, the suspects were observed running from the rear of the residence to the street. They entered a waiting 2022 white Audi Q5 that fled the scene. Responding police units intercepted the suspect vehicle and initiated a pursuit which terminated on Route 24.

10/03/2023—At 0743 hours a report was taken for a motor vehicle burglary at a Twombly Drive residence. The victim stated that the incident occurred sometime during overnight hours when an unsecured 2022 Audi Q7 was rummaged through and left in disarray. At the time of the report nothing was noted taken.

10/03/2023—At 0816 hours a report was taken for a burglary that occurred at a Warwick Road residence. The victim stated the incident occurred sometime during overnight hours. The suspects apparently entered the home through an unlocked attached garage, acceding an adjacent mud room. The victim reported that a purse and a gym bag were taken from the home. It was later learned that at approximately 0400 hours the suspects fraudulently attempted to use credit cards from the stolen purse.

10/04/2023—At 1439 hours a report was taken for a theft that occurred at a Madison Avenue residence. Just prior to contacting police, the victim observed an unknown individual take an Amazon package from their porch and vacate the area. The package contained multiple items that amount to $52.47 in total.

10/04/2023—At 1527 hours a report was taken for a theft that occurred at a Springfield Avenue residence. The victim stated that a package was stolen from their porch. The package was delivered at 1452 hours and was missing by 1505 hours. A neighbor had video footage that showed a male take the package and walk off. Taken was a Samsung Galaxy 7-Fold 5, valued at $1600.

10/07/2023—At 2018 hours multiple police units responded to a Fernwood Road residence for an activated burglary alarm indicating that a glass kitchen door panel had been broken. The suspects did not gain entry to the residence and fled the area.

10/09/2023—Marvin Dominguez, 18, of Nutley was arrested and charged with burglary, receiving stolen property and criminal attempt. Mr. Dominguez was processed.
