Weekly blotter September 11 to September 24

9/11/2023—Davon Arthur, 27, of Brooklyn, NY, was arrested and charged with eluding law enforcement, resisting arrest by flight, credit card fraud and multiple motor vehicle summons. Mr. Arthur was processed and released with a pending court date.

9/11/2023—Derrien Lawerence, 23, of Brooklyn, NY, was arrested and charged with resisting arrest by flight. Mr. Lawerence was processed and released with a pending court date.

9/11/2023—Nicole Ngan, 24, of Brooklyn, NY, was arrested and charged with resisting arrest by flight. Ms. Ngan was processed and released with a pending court date.

9/12/2023—Derrick Jones, 63, of Summit was arrested and charged with weapon possession for unlawful purpose. Mr. Jones was processed and released with a pending court date.

9/12/2023—At 1117 hours a report was taken for a theft that occurred at a Morris Avenue business. The victim stated that while reviewing security footage they observed an unknown female reaching over the counter and taking a gold bracelet. The total amount of the theft was $2800.

9/14/2023—At 0641 hours the Summit Police were notified by another agency that they recovered a 2013 Hyundai Sonata that belongs to a Weaver Street resident. The victim stated they parked their vehicle at their residence on 9/13/2023 at 1400 hours and did not know it was gone until they were notified that it was found in another town. The vehicle was involved in a motor vehicle crash, abandoned, and recovered.

9/14/2023—At 0659 hours a report was taken for an attempted motor vehicle theft that occurred at a Weaver Street residence. The victim stated that sometime during overnight hours their 2021 Kia Sportage was broken into; the rear passenger window was shattered, and the ignition severely damaged in an attempt to steal the vehicle. At the time of the report nothing was noted taken.

9/14/2023—At 0934 hours a report was taken for a burglary that occurred at a Mountain Avenue residence. The victim stated they noticed multiple items missing from their garage. On review of surveillance footage, they observed an unknown individual enter their unsecured garage on 9/11/23 at 0100 hours. Taken was one Ryobi drill set valued at $170, one Ryobi electric saw valued at $75, one Ryobi leaf blower valued at $150, and one battery charger valued at $80. The value of the stolen items is $475.

9/18/2023—At 1438 hours a report was taken for a burglary that occurred at a Park Avenue business. The victim stated that building surveillance showed a tall white male with a beard wearing a Nike t-shirt, black sweatpants and a tan baseball hat enter through a side door at 0322 hours on 9/18/2023. The suspect is seen on video leaving the building at 0325 hours. Taken was $300 from a cash register. Nothing else was noted as taken.

9/20/2023—At 0245 hours police received a report of a break-in at an Iris Road residence that resulted in two vehicles being stolen from the driveway. The suspects used a rock to break the glass of a side door to the residence, reach in through the opening and remove the two key fobs that were hanging near the door. Responding police units located and pursued the stolen cars but the pursuit was eventually terminated due to excessive speed. Prior to the break-in, suspects reportedly entered an unlocked 2023 BMW I4 and a 2021 Mercedes GLA that were parked at a residence across the street. No key fobs were present in either car.

9/20/2023—1603 hours a report was taken for a theft that occurred on Fernwood Road. The victim stated that they parked their work vehicle at approximately 0930 hours, and prior to exiting the vehicle they placed their wallet in a lunch bag, which was left on the front passenger seat. At 1140 hours the victim returned to the vehicle and discovered their wallet was taken; inside was $45 and multiple credit cards. The vehicle was left unsecured.

9/22/2023---At 0827 hours a report was taken for a theft that occurred at a New Providence Avenue residence. The victim stated that surveillance camera footage captured an unknown male dressed as an Amazon driver remove a package off the porch and vacate the area. Taken was a new Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 valued at $983.

9/24/2023—At 0241 hours police were dispatched for an activated burglary alarm at a Park Avenue business. Units performed an exterior check of the establishment and observed a rear window had been shattered. Contact was made with the owner to inform them about the incident. At the time of the report no entry was gained, and nothing was taken.
