Summit Police Department weekly blotter July 31 to August 14, 2023
8/03/2023—At 0958 hours a report was taken for a theft that occurred at a Druid Hill Road residence. The victim stated sometime during the overnight hours someone removed furniture cushions from a patio. Taken were 20 custom-made furniture cushions valued at $1000.
8/04/2023—At 0625 hours a report was taken for a burglary to a motor vehicle parked at a Stockton Road residence. Just prior to contacting the police the victim observed a male enter the driver-side door of their vehicle. The suspects fled the area once the victim attempted to approach the suspects. At the time of the report nothing was noted as taken.
8/07/2023—At 1924 hours a report was taken for a stolen motor vehicle located at a Prospect Hill Avenue residence. The victim stated the incident occurred during overnight hours. Taken was a blue 2014 BMW 7501, valued at $88,000. The vehicle was left unlocked and with the key fob inside.
8/10/2023—At 0133 hours a report was taken for a burglary to a motor vehicle parked on Broad Street. The victim parked their vehicle at 1600 hours on 8/9/23 and arrived back to their vehicle at 0100 hours on 8/10/23. They observed that the rear driver-side window had been shattered and the key ignition switch was tampered with. Taken was a pair of prescription sunglasses valued at $300.
8/10/2023—Eugene Jackson, 28, of High Bridge was arrested for a warrant out of East Orange. Mr. Jackson was processed and released with a pending court date.
8/10/2023—At 0506 hours a report was taken for a theft that occurred at a River Road business. The victim stated that a brown sedan came in for $25 in regular gas just before 0500 hours. When the attendant attempted to collect payment, the driver of the vehicle took off heading west on River Road. The victim was unable to describe the license plate at the time of the theft.
