Summit Police Department weekly blotter July 4 to July 17, 2023

7/07/2023—At 2013 hours a report was taken for a customer paying with a counterfeit bill at a Springfield Avenue business. The employee of the business received a counterfeit 100-dollar bill from a customer purchasing $17.06 worth of merchandise. The employee proceeded to give the customer $82.94 worth of change.

7/08/2023—At 1012 hours a report was taken for a burglary to a motor vehicle parked at a Beechwood Road residence. The victim stated the incident occurred sometime during overnight hours. The unlocked vehicle was discovered to have been rummaged through; at the time of the report nothing was taken.

7/12/2023—At 1050 hours a report was taken for a theft at a Springfield Avenue business. The victim stated they had left their handbag unattended for a few hours and discovered multiple items were taken from the bag once they returned. Taken was one iPhone 12, valued at $700, one bank debit card, one NJ driver’s license and two American Express credit cards.

7/12/2023—At 1308 hours a report was taken for a burglary to a motor vehicle parked at a Shadyside Avenue residence. The victim stated the incident occurred sometime during overnight hours. The unlocked vehicle was discovered to have been rummaged through; at the time of the report nothing was taken.

7/12/2023—At 1547 hours a report was taken for a theft that occurred at a Beechwood Road business. The victim stated that prior to contacting the police, two juveniles entered the establishment and stole a bottle of alcohol. Taken was a one bottle of New Amsterdam Pink Whitney 1.75-liter alcohol beverage valued at $25.

7/16/2023—At 1838 hours a report was taken for a burglary to a vehicle parked on Broad Street. The victim stated between the hours of 0930 and 1930 on 7/14/2023 their unlocked vehicle was rummaged through and $40 in change was taken.

7/17/2023—At 1730 hours a report was taken for a bicycle theft. The victim stated they left their bicycle on Kent Place Blvd on 6/21/23 and when they returned on 7/17/23 the bicycle was no longer where they left it. Taken was a navy-blue Specialized brand mountain bike with yellow lettering valued at $2500.
