During a ten-minute time frame on Friday evening, June 2, burglaries at two unoccupied Prospect Hill Avenue homes were reported in addition to an unsuccessful attempt to enter a third unoccupied home on Prospect Hill Avenue.

At approximately 9:45PM on Friday, June 2, police were dispatched to an activated residential alarm at a home located within the 60-block of Prospect Hill Avenue. Minutes later, additional police units were dispatched to a second home located within the 40-block of Prospect Hill Avenue to investigate an activated alarm. When police arrived at both scenes, it was discovered that both homes, which had been unoccupied, had been forcibly entered and that the suspects had already fled.

The preliminary investigation disclosed that the suspects entered the first home by shattering its rear kitchen window. The suspects rummaged through the master bedroom, removing numerous pieces of jewelry before fleeing. The suspects entered the second home by forcing open a rear door. The suspects rummaged through the master bedroom, removing an undisclosed amount of costume jewelry before fleeing.

On Saturday morning, June 3, police discovered evidence of an unsuccessful attempt to enter a third unoccupied home within the 50-block of Prospect Hill Avenue believed to have occurred during the same initial time frame the previous night. Summit Police Department detectives and members from the Union County Sherriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit processed the residence for trace evidence. The incident is under investigation by the Summit Police Department Detective Bureau.
