The New Jersey State Department of Health has informed the City of Summit of two new cases of the COVID-19 coronavirus in Summit, NJ today, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 210. Additional statistics are available at https://www.cityofsummit.org/coronavirus.

The Union County Board of Elections has designated three polling locations in Summit for in-person voting from 6AM to 8PM on July 7. Voting machines will be available for voters with disabilities. Ward 1 Districts 1 to 6 will vote at Summit High School located at 125 Kent Place Blvd. Ward 1 Districts 7 to 12 will vote at Washington School located at 507 Morris Ave. Ward 2 will vote at the Summit Community Center located at 100 Morris Ave. Districts 1 to 6 will vote in the Guida Gym; Districts 7 to 13 will vote in the Investors Bank Gym.

JCP&L annual aerial inspections by helicopter begin June 15. The vegetation management program begins on Mon 6/15 through Sat 6/20, weather permitting. The helicopter, black w/ red tail number N500LK, will be flying at speed of 35/40 mph above or alongside power lines and may circle for closer inspection.

As warmer weather arrives, the Westfield Regional Health Dept warns about feeding or interacting with wildlife and stray animals. Take precaution and call police non-emergency number 908-273-0051 if encountering aggressive or distressed wildlife.
