The annual Miracle on Elm Street event and holiday tree lighting with Mayor Nora Radest will take place on Sunday, November 26, from 1PM to 6PM on the Village Green with ice skating, bonfires, caroling and performances, free hot beverages, and cookie decorating. From 3PM to 4:30PM, there will be photos with Santa and a holiday tree lighting will take place at 5PM. Summit Fire Department will escort Santa to the Village Green on a fire truck to assist with the tree lighting. Please contact the Department of Community Programs at 908-277-2932 with any questions.
Congregation Ohr Shalom will host a menorah lighting ceremony on Sunday, December 10, at 6PM on the Village Green. Members of the public are invited to attend.
Summit Downtown, Inc. (SDI) will host Small Business Saturday on Saturday, November 25, from 1PM to 4PM in downtown Summit. Many businesses will feature special offers and merchandise for the day. Free carriage rides and holiday music will begin on Saturday, November 25, and be offered each Saturday through December 23 from 1PM to 4PM. The boarding location will be Lyric Park, on the corner of Beechwood Road and Bank Street.
Celebrate in Summit will be held on Saturday, December 23, from 1PM to 4PM, in downtown Summit. There will be live music throughout the downtown area, horse and carriage rides beginning at Lyric Park, ice sculpture carving, and more. All activities are free to the public.
SDI is hosting its annual HillTop Elf Scavenger Hunt from November 25 through December 23. The elves will be hidden within downtown Summit businesses or in storefront windows. Scavenger hunt forms can be picked up at any participating business or downloaded from the SDI website. There is no purchase necessary to participate. To be entered to win a $500 VISA gift card or one of 10 $100 gift cards that can be used at over 100 Summit businesses, completed forms must be turned in at any participating business by 4PM on Saturday, December 23. The drawing will be held on Tuesday, January 2, and winners will be notified by email.
The Summit Farmers Market will continue in December on Sundays December 3, 10, and 17, from 8AM to 12PM in the Park & Shop Lot on the corner of Deforest Avenue and Woodland Avenue. The Farmers Market will be closed on Sunday, November 26.
