The City of Summit is congratulating Councilmember Marjorie Fox on receiving the Municipal Leadership Award from the Association of New Jersey Environmental Commissions (ANJEC). Councilmember Fox was presented with the award at the ANJEC Environmental Congress held on Friday, October 13, 2023, at Mercer County College.
The Municipal Leadership Award recognizes local municipal elected officials who have initiated and supported outstanding achievements in the environmental field.
Councilmember Fox is currently serving her second term on Common Council. She was first elected in 2017 and served as Council President from 2020 to 2022. Prior to her election to council, Councilmember Fox served on the City of Summit Environmental Commission from 2005 to 2017. She also served on the City of Summit Recycling Advisory Committee for more than a decade and was the committee chair from 2010 to 2017. During her time on council, Councilmember Fox has served as council liaison to the Environmental Commission and the Recycling Advisory Committee. In 2016, Union County recognized Councilmember Fox for her environmental leadership with its Environmental Hero Award.
“Councilmember Fox has been a tireless champion of the environment during her nearly two decades of public service as a volunteer and elected official,” explains Environmental Commission Chair Donna Goggin Patel. “She has supported numerous and varied sustainability efforts in our community including the Summit Free Market, the Tiny Forest, food waste composting, education efforts on different recycling practices, and many more. I would like to congratulate her on this well-deserved award and thank her for her service to the Summit community.”
