The Summit Housing Authority provides high quality, affordable housing for low to moderate income Summit families and the elderly, without cost to the local taxpayer. The Housing Authority is responsible for identifying unmet and emerging housing and community development issues and the resources to address them.

In Summit, the Housing Authority owns and manages 195 low-rent family, elderly, and handicapped housing units. The Summit Housing Authority is also the City of Summit's designated local redevelopment agency and administers the City's Community Development Block Grants Program.

As the City's designated Affordable Housing Administrator, the Housing Authority is responsible for the administrative aspects of the management, development and rehabilitation of affordable lower income housing.
