Municipal Courts are statutory courts of limited jurisdiction having responsibility for motor vehicle traffic violations, disorderly and petty disorderly criminal offenses, municipal and county ordinance violations, certain penalty enforcement codes, health code viotations, fish and game, weights and measures and all other proceedings within the territorial jurisdiction of the municipality. Practice and procedures are governed by New Jersey Court Rules. The Municipal Court Judge is responsible for overseeing the administration of his or her Municipal Court.

SUMMIT MUNICIPAL COURT MISSION STATEMENT:
To adjudicate or mediate complaints and grievances in a local forum as defined by law.

To provide quality service to our customers in an efficient and fair manner.

NEW JERSEY COURT SYSTEM MISSION STATEMENT:
We are an independent branch of government constitutionally entrusted with the fair and just resolution of disputes in order to preserve the rule of law and to protect the rights and liberties guaranteed by the Constitution and law of the United States and this State.

Violation Bureau Hours:  
Monday through Friday 9:00 am to 4:00 pm
Court is held every Wednesday at 9:00 am
Night Court for first appearance is the first Wednesday of the month at 4:00 pm
