Sustainable Jersey designation

In order to receive a Sustainable Jersey award, municipalities submit an application detailing projects and commitments to the environment in a multitude of areas including global warming, pollution, biodiversity, land use, air and water quality, equity, buying local, local living economies, and sustainable agriculture.

In 2010, the City of Summit achieved silver Sustainable Jersey certification and the champion award in the medium-size population group with 505 points, more than 150 points above the 350 point minimum.

Sustainable Jersey certification gives Summit increased access to grant money for additional environmental projects and programs.
