Ellen Dickson is the 29th elected Mayor of Summit, NJ and the second woman to hold this venerated position.

Before being elected as Mayor, Ellen served two terms on Summit’s Common Council and as Council President in 2009.  As Mayor, Ellen heads the Summit Police Department with a resolute commitment to keeping Summit neighborhoods safe.

Mayor Dickson also serves on the Planning Board and Board of School Estimate.  She appoints members of the School Board and Environmental Commission as well as other City committee positions.

Mayor Dickson is focused on encouraging smart development and continually looking to implement initiatives to promote and highlight Summit’s rich cultural history. Her priority to “Think Local First” is helping Summit’s downtown businesses to continue to grow and thrive. 


Mayor Ellen Dickson holds a Masters in Business Administration from Babson College and an undergraduate degree from the University of Massachusetts in Boston. She and her husband Chip raised three children, all of them graduating from the Summit public schools system.
